Are flyers the new chewing gum?
Not only at shopping mall, bus-stop, coffee shop or even at one’s mail box, flyers could be seen everywhere. However, these leaflets are handed out on the street and dropped on the pavement. From my observations, I realized that people do not really read the content of the flyers. They just take it for the sake of taking and throw it into the bin nearest to them. It is also the one piece of trash that apparently no one has an issue with tossing directly on the ground. This is because nobody speaks up about the issue, thus one might feel it is alright to just drop it on the ground Due to this mindset that everyone has, the issue of littering leaflets has gotten way out of hand. It has become like a chewing gum where people just conveniently throw it wherever and whenever they like. It also causes a bad effect on the environment due to excessive printing. I think that companies should stop giving out flyers and promote their stuff through online or through advertisements. Not only will these actions help the environment, it also keeps the country clean and green.
